Vertical Sidewalk
Installation at the corner of Cedar and Riverside avenues in Minneapolis; collaboration with Jon Spayde and Scot Torkelson. Four hours nightly in April.

Images produced by a slide projector set up in a second-floor window were deflected down to the sidewalk by a mirror mounted on the outside of the building. The show consisted of 140 images showing for eight seconds each. 70 of the images were taken by a camera aimed either straight up or straight down; 70 text slides formed a narrative expressing my thoughts about “up” and “down” as positions of domination or imagination. The images elicited a strong response from pedestrians and people waiting at the bus stop.
